Years ago it was in to be overweight. My Pakistani relatives would announce with joy that they had found a suitable match for their son or daughter. The person was almost always described as "healdee" (healthy). A few stones overweight, an extra tyre round the waist and blocked artieries were consdered an asset, something to be desired and families would even make allowances for miserly dowries as long as the fat and cellulite were in tact. But the times have changed and I realised this when my 75 year old aunt poked me in the belly and asked "why are you so fat? Loose the weight or else no one will want you".
